MEET KATIE
Katie Baldwin is the award-winning principal designer at Katie Baldwin Designs, based in Lakeville, Connecticut. Specializing in bespoke window treatments, Katie’s design philosophy blends timeless tradition with unexpected twists. From the initial concept to the final installation, she works closely with each client to ensure every detail is thoughtfully executed, eliminating any concerns along the way. Katie is also dedicated to managing project budgets with precision, ensuring clear and transparent communication throughout the process.
Serving clients across New England, the New York Metro Area, and beyond, Katie is known for creating spaces that are both functional and beautifully styled.
Education & Accreditations:
Before transitioning into interior design, Katie spent over 17 years in the fashion industry, managing a multi-million-dollar business. This experience shaped her deep understanding of budgeting, design curation, and the importance of cohesive collections. As she likes to say, “I used to dress people, now I dress their homes!”
Katie honed her design skills at the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID) and studied under renowned designer Robin Bell of Robin Bell Design. She also expanded her knowledge with studies in Classical Architecture in Rome and completed the Designer MBA course with Tobi Fairley at the Tobi Fairley School for Interior Design. Katie is a Certified Real Estate Stager, Certified in Classical Art & Architecture, and a Certified True Color Expert.

MEET MACHAYLA
A native of the area, Machayla Karcheski brings a wealth of hands-on experience to the design world. Surprisingly, her journey began in 2009 at a sawmill, where she developed an in-depth understanding of wood and its many uses. This foundation led to an 8-year tenure at a custom high-end furniture design studio, where she collaborated with top designers on bespoke projects and created furniture for both commercial spaces and private clients. Specializing in project management and drafting, Machayla combines technical expertise with a strong design sensibility, offering a problem-solving approach to every design challenge. She joined Katie Baldwin Designs in January 2024, bringing a fresh perspective and valuable skills to the team. Outside of work, Machayla enjoys spending time with her husband, young daughter, and their two rescue dogs, whether at home or on an adventure.
